A TASTE OF WINE – A TOUCH OF HERITAGE

New tourism destination In cultura veritas was promoted within a study tour

A study tour along two routes of the new cross-border tourism destination, established within the project In cultura veritas, aimed to promote abundant wine and cultural heritage of the Croatian project area, thereby setting up conditions for sustainability of the new destination.

On Thursday, 2 July 2020 a one-day study tour along the Zelina and Plešivica wine routes was organised in order to promote cultural and wine offer of the Croatian project area included in the project In cultura veritas. The tour was conducted as a part of the work package T4 – Promotion of the tourism destination, project activity AT4.4. Study tours.

Objective of this project activity was to present the new destination to travelling and marketing agencies, journalists and other relevant tourism sector stakeholders so they can integrate its offer in their business activities and promote it among wide public, especially wine, gastronomy, nature and cultural heritage lovers.

Around 20 tour attendees had the opportunity to visit a few wineries and excursion sites around the towns of Sveti Ivan Zelina and Jastrebarsko. In the surroundings of beautiful vineyards and wineries, diligent wine producers offered their homemade gastronomical delicacies and shared interesting stories about production of wine that was served with food. Amongst a variety of top quality wines, particular attention was given to Zelina white wine Kraljevina and sparkling wine Kraljica. Kraljevina is authentic for the Zelina area and exclusively produced only there. A local legend says that this fresh and breezy wine was also indulged by the famous German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven.

Cultural content of the tour was enriched by visiting the Jastrebarsko Town Museum and Gallery which keeps a number of exhibits related to tradition of producing wine on the Plešivica wine route.

During the tour attendees were accompanied by a tour guide dressed as Marija Jurić Zagorka whose life and work are tightly bonded with the Zagreb County.

This project activity was implemented by mutual cooperation of the project partners Zagreb county and Association of Croatian Travelling Agencies, with the help of travelling agency Globtour Event. A similar study tour, for promotion of tourism offer in the Slovenian part of the project area, will be organised by the Slovenian partner Development Agency Sotla.
