Second Slovenian consultative workshop

Second workshop for identifying offer and setting up tourism destination conducted in Slovenia

Development Agency Sotla organised a second workshop for Slovenian project stakeholders from the public, private and non-governmental sectors, as part of the work package T1 - Development of the new joint cross border tourism destination. The workshop took place on 25 March 2019 in Calska gorca (municipality of Rogaška Slatina).

The workshop was facilitated by Romana Lekić, PhD, an expert for destination management. The attendees were the key stakeholders from the subregion of Obsotelje and Kozjansko, namely wine producers, cultural heritage managers, museum employees and representatives of the civil and tourism sectors. Joint discussion and active participation within the focus groups led to identification of most significant tourism attractions, cultural and entertaining events and other tourism products and services which will be a part of the new tourism destination. The workshop ended with creating SWOT analysis, which served as a tool for identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats relevant for the new tourism destination.

Workshop in Rogaška Slatina was the second out of four stakeholder workshops planned to be organised and conducted by the project partners within this project activity (2 for Croatian and 2 for Slovenian stakeholders). Results will be used for drafting of the Plan for establishing new joint cross border tourism destination, which will contain tourism product and services' packages. The document will serve as a basis for setting up and promoting business cooperation, connecting key cross border stakeholders from the sectors of tourism and culture, joint promotion and sustainable development of the new tourism destination.
